Trekking "Isole Eolie Sicilia"

The Aeolian Islands take their name from the God Aeolus (the God of the wind), who according to mythology resided right on the island of Lipari. They represent an extraordinary research field for geologists from all over the world, they are a real outdoor archaeological park. Not only history and geology but also from a landscape-environmental point of view, the Aeolian Islands are a real “Unicum” in the southern Mediterranean basin. Still active volcanoes, unique and wild landscapes of uncontaminated nature and luxuriant Mediterranean scrub combined with the spectacle of the crystalline sea with warm thermal waters make this trekking truly priceless and unmissable.

We will be based on the island of Lipari and from there every day we will leave to discover new itineraries.

Nature, volcanoes and even the sea will accompany us on this unique as well as wonderful journey not to be missed.

Days Details:

1st Day: Arrival in Catania, visit of the city and in the early afternoon transfer to Lipari.

2nd Day: Excursion to Vulcano “Nel Gran Cratere”, visit of the island, ascent to the crater and relaxation with a bath in the marine thermal waters about 4 hours of walking with a difference in height of about + 400m. Medium-easy walk

Day 3: Excursion to the Stromboli volcano "Iddu the lighthouse of the Mediterranean" about 5 hours of walking with a difference in height of about + 900m. Medium-easy walk. In the morning passage and visit to the Island of Panarea.

4th Day: Excursion to Lipari "the way of the pumice" about 4 hours of walking and + 400mt of difference in height. Medium-easy walk.

5th Day: Morning in Salina with excursion to the salt lake and the Saracens caves. Afternoon return to Catania and arrival in Bergamo in the evening.

Difference in altitude: about 1900 meters in total to be divided into 5 stages

Length: 60 km overall to be divided into 5 stages

Walking hours: 4-5 hours a day with stops and a lunch break.

Departure times: 8.00 - 8.30

Packed lunch.

Overnight stays: in hotel or B&B

How to get there: Meeting at 5.00 am at Orio al Serio airport (BG) or directly at Catania airport at 8.30 am

Participation fee:

Adults: 490 euros

Children aged 15 to 18 accompanied by an adult: 350 euros

The fee includes: planning and drafting of the itinerary, professional accompaniment with a guide, insurance, overnight stay with breakfast, local transport costs (buses and ferries to the islands)

The fee does not include: return travel expenses, food expenses, any volcanological guide (if compulsory) and anything that does not appear in the item “the fee includes.

Recommended clothing: suitable for the season, hiking boots, backpack, waterproof cape, spare T-shirts, sweatshirt, light long trousers, swimsuit, spare parts, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses and camera.
